On Tuesday we had our last charity event for 2009, the picnic at Clifton 2nd beach.

We knew that chances were that only few people would participate, as Wednesday the 16th was a public holiday. 7 of us enjoyed the perfect conditions of Tuesday night, a beautiful sunset and also a very competitive game of volleyball!

We thank the following people who either joined us for the picnic, or donated to the charity if they were unable to attend:

We managed to raise a total of R205.00 from the picnic which will be added to the hike donations of R225.00 and utilised to provide some Christmas cheer to Huis Luckhoff residents.

Total monies raised from the two events thus far: R430.00

We intend to try and make these charitable events a regular happening during 2010, and would be most happy to hear your suggestions. Keep an eye on the blog and also Facebook as we discuss the events that will commence again from February.

We have organised a picnic gathering at Clifton 2nd for Tuesday 15 December 2009 as part of the charity events hosted by Donate An Hour.

We ask that everyone attending considers donating R25 which will go to the Huis Luckhoff Xmas fund. We hope to purchase a few gifts to bring some joy to those without families at the home. If you would like to make donations in the form of gifts, that is also welcome!

Make an evening of it and pack some snacks, drinks, a blanket to sit on, something warm, a plastic bag for rubbish and a candle or lantern. Frisbees, volleyballs, beach tennis etc and musical instruments always welcome!

This is our last event to wrap up the year and make a difference to a few people’s Xmas 2009. So please try to pop-in, even if you are only able to join later, or only stay for a short while, or tell others about it!

We’ll be gathering from 5pm onwards. No need to RSVP – just show up on the day! We’ll meet close to the volleyball net.

On the 3rd of December, 8 individuals gathered at the foot of Lion’s Head to ascend for charity.

We always knew that it would take strong-willed individuals to brave the hike at sunrise (6am), and on a week day (before going to work); and wondered whether anyone would show up on the day!
