We knew that chances were that only few people would participate, as Wednesday the 16th was a public holiday. 7 of us enjoyed the perfect conditions of Tuesday night, a beautiful sunset and also a very competitive game of volleyball!

We thank the following people who either joined us for the picnic, or donated to the charity if they were unable to attend:

We managed to raise a total of R205.00 from the picnic which will be added to the hike donations of R225.00 and utilised to provide some Christmas cheer to Huis Luckhoff residents.

Total monies raised from the two events thus far: R430.00

We intend to try and make these charitable events a regular happening during 2010, and would be most happy to hear your suggestions. Keep an eye on the blog and also Facebook as we discuss the events that will commence again from February.

We ask that everyone attending considers donating R25 which will go to the Huis Luckhoff Xmas fund. We hope to purchase a few gifts to bring some joy to those without families at the home. If you would like to make donations in the form of gifts, that is also welcome!

Make an evening of it and pack some snacks, drinks, a blanket to sit on, something warm, a plastic bag for rubbish and a candle or lantern. Frisbees, volleyballs, beach tennis etc and musical instruments always welcome!

This is our last event to wrap up the year and make a difference to a few people’s Xmas 2009. So please try to pop-in, even if you are only able to join later, or only stay for a short while, or tell others about it!

We’ll be gathering from 5pm onwards. No need to RSVP – just show up on the day! We’ll meet close to the volleyball net.

We always knew that it would take strong-willed individuals to brave the hike at sunrise (6am), and on a week day (before going to work); and wondered whether anyone would show up on the day!

As part of our Huis Luckhoff fundraising campaign we have organised a Lion’s Head sunrise walk on the 3rd of December, 6am.

We are asking an optional donation of R25 per person to join us on the walk.
Funds raised will be dontated to the  Huis Luckhoff home for the aged and will be used to pay for a quality meal for the residents on Christmas.

We will meet at Signal Hill Road, at the Base of the forestry rd and all are welcome!

The November fete for this year proved to be hugely successful again.

There was a great turn-out and the event sold-out of just about everything on offer by 12pm!

According to Manager, MR JFC Burmeister: “As usual it was a lovely event.  Families, friends and residents met and enjoyed the fete around all the different stalls.   There was a jumping castle, face painting and sand art for the children to keep them busy.  The not so young enjoyed coffee, tea and eatables while chatting their hearts out.  We thank everyone for their support and trust and that they will be back 2010 with pockets full of money.”

We thoroughly checked all bank fees, and it personally made me reconsider my bank – some have quite high fees on deposits, and with Donate we of course want to give as much of the monies as possible to our Huis Luckhoff initiative – and not make the bank rich in the process ;)

The pledges have started coming in, as well as deposits – some of our fist brave supporters and shout-outs go to: Saskia Redivo, Lana Baker, Carla Fourie and Jonathan Andrews. You have been added to the Wall of Fame!  Thank you for your deposits!

Remember that we will only credit you once the deposit reflects in our account :)

So far we’ve managed to raise R1700.00, although far away from our goal mark of R500 000.00, every little bit that we can add to that figure is a step in the right direction and will be gratefully received by the Home!

The top hour pledged and donated so far is R600.00 – can you or your company better that?! Then do so now.

As one of our pledges have recently said “It’s not about winning – it’s about helping!”
